Muscular Dystrophy WA

The Trail Day for Muscular Dystrophy WA is a major fundraising and awareness initiative for Muscular Dystrophy WA.

Formerly the Ride For Someone Who Can’t, the name change reflects Muscular Dystrophy WA’s revitalised beliefs.

No one should be defined by their condition.

People living with muscular dystrophy have medical needs, but that’s only half the story.

No matter a person’s abilities, their right to live a full, rich live they love should always be championed.

Your support can help create solutions that empower full lives.

Muscular Dystrophy WA challenges you to blaze the trails of Dwellingup in support of people living with muscular dystrophy.

Since 2010, almost $700,000 has been raised through this wonderful campaign, including $80,000 in 2016. We need your help to make it an even bigger success in 2017!

In 2017, Muscular Dystrophy WA celebrates their 50th Anniversary and we hope the mountain biking community will join the party!

Take on the 14, 40, 60 or 100km track and be a part of an amazing team that will enjoy both the challenge of the ride and the challenge of raising much-needed funds to support Western Australians living with muscular dystrophy.

It’s so easy…

We can create your fundraising page for you. You then simply forward on your unique fundraising link to friends, family and colleagues, asking them for their support.

It really is that easy to leverage your HUGE MOUNTAIN BIKING efforts into significant funds for a great cause

We believe fundraising should be FUN and not detract from your schedule. Muscular Dystrophy WA will be with you every step of your fundraising journey.

So come on… What have you got to lose?

The Kyle Conor Spirit of the Ride Award

ABOUT KYLE AND CONOR
If you’ve crossed the finish line at the Act-Belong-Commit Dwellingup 100, it’s very likely you were cheered across the line by two exceptional young men with muscular dystrophy – Conor Murphy and Kyle Scolari.
Conor and Kyle were much loved friends and members of Muscular Dystrophy WA. They were two outstanding young men, who inspired everyone they met. Their passing in 2014 was tragic and unexpected. The Western Australian Muscular Dystrophy Community is a close knit one and we appreciate how widely the loss of Conor and Kyle was felt.

Both young men played a significant part in the RIDE FOR SOMEONE WHO CAN’T, being ridden for and attending each race day. One year alone, Conor had a group of over 20 people riding for him. Conor’s Mum, Dad and brother have all taken on the Act-Belong-Commit Dwellingup 100.

WHAT THE AWARD REPRESENTS
Act-Belong-Commit Dwellingup 100 event organisers TriEvents were deeply saddened by the tragedy and showed their support in a special way by naming a part of the course ‘The Kyle Conor MD Link’.

A perpetual award has been created to honour these exceptional young men. The Kyle Conor Spirit of the Ride Award will be presented to an inspirational participant who has overcome circumstances and risen above challenges, while showing courage and integrity.

The recipient of this perpetual award will be acknowledged after the 100km presentations.

If you know a rider who has shown outstanding commitment to the sport and overcome great obstacles to reach the starting line this year, please email your nomination with a brief explanation to ride@mdwa.org.au

The Award Committee will also have their eyes on the course throughout the event, looking for riders who truly capture the Spirit of the Ride.
Nominations will also be accepted on the morning of race day. Please see Brianna from Muscular Dystrophy WA – trackside at the basketball courts.
